Ukdiche Modak

 Ukdiche Modak (40 Mins)

Modak is a steamed sweet dish which is mainly prepared on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. It is a simple recipe prepared with minimum ingredients.

Ingredients :-

1) Rice Flour (1 and 1/2 Cup)
2) Ghee (4 Tsp)
3) Water (1 and 1/2 Glass)
4) Salt (a pinch)
5) Grated Fresh Coconut (1)
6) Grated Jaggery (200 gm)
7) Pista (Optional)
8) Elaichi Powder (1/2 Tsp)

Instructions :-

Take a sauce pan , Add water to it


Add a pinch of salt to it



Take 1/4 tsp of ghee


Add it in the sauce pan


Let it boil
After it is boiled.
Turn off the burner



Take rice flour in a plate


Add that in the sauce pan



Mix it and keep aside



Now take a kadai



Add 3 Tsp of ghee



Let it melt



After that add grated coconut to it



Saute it for few mins



Saute it till it is light golden brown



Add grated jaggery



Let it melt



After it is melted.
Stir it continuously



Add Pista or and dry fruit (Optional)



Mix it


Add Elaichi powder to it


Mix it

Remove it on a plate and keep aside.
Let it cool down

Once it is warm

Remove it in a plate and Knead it

After the dough is together.
Make a small ball.
If the ball comes together without any crack then the dough is ready.

Now make the ball flat

Roll it or with the help of the fingers , make a hollow in between

Now pinch the sides gently and make petals of the edges


Now put some of the coconut mixture in between


Bring the petals together and mix on the top

Get all the modak ready for steaming


Take a big sauce pan, Add water to it


Keep any plate which is having holes in it.
Make sure to keep a stand beneath it



After the water boils.
Add modak to it

Close the vessel with the lid


After 10 - 12  mins
Modak will be ready to serve.


Make sure to offer it to Ganesha first !!
