Corn Pakoda or Corn Fritters

Corn Pakoda(40 Mins)

Corn Pakoda which is also called as bhajiyas , fritters which can be made for breakfast or snacks.
Mainly this is made in Indian household during the rainy season because the combination of bhajiyas and chai (tea) is incomparable to anything else.
Try out this recipe for snacking with something good.



Ingredients :- 

1) Onion
2) Coriander
3) Jeera
4) Chilli Powder
5) Green Chilli
6) Salt
7) Turmeric or Haldi
8) Amchur Powder or Dry Mango Powder
9) Corn
10) Besan or Chickpea Flour



Instruction :-

Take 2 corn and remove all kernels from it.


Take a 2 tsp of corn kernels and grind them DO NOT make a paste out of it.
Just grind it till the kernels mix little bit.
Then take 1 Onion, handful of corainder , 1 Green Chilli , chop it thinly.
Then take 1 tsp of jeera , ½ of Chilli Powder , ½ Amchur Powder or Dry Mango Powder , ¼ Turmeric or Haldi , 7 tsp of Besan or Chickpea Flour and salt as per taste.

Assemble all the above ingredients in one big bowl 


Add corn kernels to it


WITHOUT adding water mix it.


Add 1 or 2 tsp of water IF required if it is not wet.
DO NOT make it watery.


Take a kadai or deep sauce pan, Add oil to fry.


After the oil gets heat. Turn the heat to medium low.
Add the pakoda gradually. DO NOT flood the kadai with pakoda.
If you are using this much oil then add 8 to 10 pieces at a time.


Let it cook for 4 to 5 mins. Make sure to stir in between.


Cook it till you get a golden brown color to it.


Corn Pakoda is ready to serve.

Serve it with Tomato Ketchup or Schezwan Sauce (highly recommended).


Questions that can hit your mind :-


Can we add wheat flour or any other flour in place of besan ?

Yes , you can add that we just use it for coating but if you want to go for a healthier version then you can go for corn flour.
Do not use wheat flour as it will not taste good as per my opinion if you want to try it you can go ahead.

Can we add paste of corn kernels ?

I refer not to use that because after that you will get that flavor out of the corn.
The crunchiness of the corn will enhance the flavor of the dish.

Is onion compulsory to add in this dish ?

No, It is not compulsory but it adds a flavor.
